2. What are cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small pieces of information that a site may store on the user's device while they browse.

In addition to cookies, the site may use similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, identifiers, and other technical tools, used to ensure the operation of the online store, remember certain preferences, analyze site usage, and, where consent is required, measure the effectiveness of advertising activities.

In this Cookie Policy, the term “cookie” may also be used, for simplicity, to refer to similar tracking technologies.

3. Types of cookies and technologies used

The site may use the following categories.

Strictly necessary cookies

They are used to ensure the proper functioning of the site and the functionalities requested by the user, for example:

  • navigation and page functionality;
  • cart and checkout management;
  • authentication and customer account;
  • security and fraud prevention;
  • management of privacy preferences;
  • technical management of orders and payments.

Their use is necessary to provide the service requested by the user and does not depend on consent when it falls within the strictly technical purposes provided for by applicable law. The Italian Data Protection Authority distinguishes technical tools, which are necessary for the operation of the service, from tools used for additional purposes such as profiling and advertising.

Functionality and preference cookies

They allow certain choices made by the user to be remembered and specific site functionalities to be improved.

When their use requires consent, they are activated according to the user's expressed preferences.

Analytics cookies and tools

They may be used to understand how the site is used, measure its performance, and analyze interactions with pages, products, the cart, and checkout.

Where required by applicable law, these tools are used on the basis of the user's express consent given through the preference management system.

Advertising or profiling cookies and tools

They may be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, attribute conversions, conduct remarketing, create audience segments, and make advertising more relevant.

These tools are used on the basis of the user's consent when required by applicable law. The Italian Data Protection Authority requires active consent for non-technical cookies and tracking tools intended, in particular, for profiling purposes.

4. Cookie banner and preference management

Laboratori Vonderweid uses the Shopify Customer Privacy system to manage the cookie banner and collect users' preferences in geographical areas where consent is required.

Through the banner, the user can:

  • accept the proposed categories of cookies and technologies;
  • decline non-essential technologies;
  • access the settings to manage their preferences.

Preferences can subsequently be changed through the Cookie Preferences function available on the site.

Shopify provides for its banner to directly manage Shopify technologies and, where pixels or third-party technologies have been installed manually, for these to be configured to correctly respect the user's choices.

5. Shopify

The online store is built using the Shopify platform.

Shopify uses cookies and technologies that are necessary or functional to provide services such as:

  • store operation;
  • cart and checkout;
  • customer account;
  • security;
  • authentication;
  • preference management;
  • fraud prevention;
  • technical processing of transactions;
  • management of privacy-related settings.

Some additional Shopify technologies may operate in accordance with the user's privacy preferences and the settings configured in the store.

6. Google Tag Manager

Laboratori Vonderweid uses Google Tag Manager, container:

GTM-N286GVPR

Google Tag Manager is used to centrally manage the measurement and marketing technologies implemented on the site.

Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, and Meta Pixel can be managed through GTM, among others.

Google Tag Manager therefore primarily serves a technical tag management function; any use of cookies and data depends on the individual services configured through the container and the preferences expressed by the user.

7. Google Analytics 4

The site uses or may use Google Analytics 4 - GA4 to understand site usage and measure its performance.

Depending on the configuration, events such as the following may be analyzed:

  • page views;
  • product and collection views;
  • searches;
  • adding or removing products from the cart;
  • cart view;
  • checkout initiation;
  • entering shipping and payment information;
  • purchase;
  • certain interactions with the site.

When the required consent has not been granted, the behavior of Google tools is adapted to the consent status.

When used with standard settings, Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and _ga_<ID>, for which the default duration indicated by Google is 2 years; the actual duration may nevertheless be modified through the tag configuration.

8. Google Ads and conversion measurement

Laboratori Vonderweid may use Google Ads to measure the effectiveness of its advertising campaigns and attribute purchases or other conversions to the campaigns that generated the interaction.

When permitted by the user's preferences and the relevant configuration, advanced measurement features may also be used, including Enhanced Conversions.

Enhanced Conversions may use certain data provided directly by the customer, such as email address, telephone number, and identifying information supported by the service, which are processed according to the technical procedures specified by Google.

In the system implemented on the site, data intended for Enhanced Conversions is made available by the pixel only when marketing consent has been granted. This logic is implemented directly in the currently configured Shopify Custom Pixel.

9. Google Consent Mode

The site uses Google Consent Mode v2 to communicate the user's expressed preferences to Google services.

On the first visit, in the absence of a previous valid choice, the system currently configured sets non-essential consents relating to analytics and advertising to denied before loading Google Tag Manager. When the user interacts with the Shopify banner, the status is updated based on the preferences expressed.

The configuration uses the so-called Advanced Consent Mode.

When consent for analytics or advertising has not been granted, the normal cookies associated with the relevant categories are not used according to the consent status communicated to Google services. Google may nevertheless receive limited signals without the normal advertising or analytics cookies, also known as cookieless pings, used to communicate consent status and support aggregated measurement and modeling features.

These limited signals do not correspond to the normal activation of advertising cookies or normal profiling based on those cookies.

10. Meta Pixel

The website may use Meta Pixel, a technology provided by Meta Platforms, to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns conducted through Meta platforms and, subject to consent where required, for attribution, remarketing, and personalized advertising functions.

The Meta Pixel may process information relating to interactions carried out on the website, such as views, interactions with products, cart, checkout, and purchases, depending on the events actually configured.

Meta features intended for advertising and profiling are configured in relation to the marketing preferences expressed by the user.

Meta itself requires users of its Business Tools to ensure that the Pixel does not share data with Meta before cookie acceptance when consent is required.

11. Trustpilot

The website uses elements or widgets linked to Trustpilot to display reviews and allow users to access the relevant platform.

Interacting with elements provided by Trustpilot or accessing the external platform may involve the use of Trustpilot's own technologies, in accordance with the terms and privacy policy of the relevant service.

Post-purchase communications containing review requests are instead managed through Sendcloud, via WhatsApp or email, and do not in themselves constitute a cookie installed during simple browsing of the website.

12. Payment services

During checkout, services such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, Google Pay and the payment networks connected to the payment method selected by the user may be used.

Such services may use technologies necessary for authentication, security, fraud prevention, and transaction processing.

When the user interacts directly with an external platform or service, the relevant privacy and cookie policies may also apply.

13. Cookie duration

Cookies may be:

session, when they are deleted at the end of the session or when the browser is closed, according to the relevant configuration;

or

persistent, when they remain stored on the device for a specified period.

The duration depends on the purpose, provider, and technical configuration actually used.

For example, Google currently states a default duration of 2 years for the main GA4 cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>, while allowing it to be modified through the tag configuration.

The configuration of cookies and third-party tools may change over time following updates to the services used, technical settings, or applicable legislation.

Laboratori Vonderweid periodically verifies the technologies actually used on the site and updates this Cookie Policy when significant changes occur.

14. Change or withdraw consent

Users can change their cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie preferences feature available on the site.

Changing or withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully carried out before the change.

Users can also manage or delete cookies directly through their browser settings.

Disabling strictly necessary cookies may compromise the proper functioning of certain site features, the shopping cart, or checkout.

Failure to accept non-essential technologies does not prevent access to the store's essential features. The Italian Data Protection Authority requires that users be able to reject non-technical technologies and subsequently change their choices.

15. Services and third parties

The technologies described in this Cookie Policy may involve, depending on the configuration and features used:

Shopify, Google, Meta, Trustpilot, and the payment providers available on the site.

Depending on the specific activities, these parties may operate in accordance with their own terms and privacy notices regarding data processing.

For more information about data recipients, legal bases, international transfers, and data subjects' rights, please consult the Privacy Policy of Laboratori Vonderweid.

16. Cookie Policy updates

This Cookie Policy may be amended over time as a result of:

  • introduction or removal of services;
  • changes in the site's technical configuration;
  • updates to the platforms used;
  • regulatory changes;
  • changes in the methods of data processing.

The updated version is published on this page, indicating the date of the last update.
