Birch Mother Tincture, what is it and what are its benefits?

Birch characteristics in herbal tradition.

The birch Mother Tincture, extracted from the leaves of Betula pendula, is a Phytotherapeutic Remedy used efficiently as a diuretic, combined with anti-inflammatoryproperties.

Let’s take a closer look.

Birch Plant: what is it?

The white birch (Betula pendula Roth, 1788) is a plant belonging to the family Betulaceae.

This type of birch is a plant that comes from the cold and is in fact considered the queen of the forests of Russia, Finland and Lapland, but it lives in all European countries except Spain and Greece.

In Italy, it can be found more or less wild throughout the Alps and the Apennines.

What is birch used for? Let’s discover the properties of birch:

phytotherapy, the science concerned with the use of plant-based medicines to treat human diseases, attributes to Birch diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Its beneficial properties are mainly attributed, also thanks to studies conducted, to the presence of Flavonoids (especially quercetin), which seem useful in accelerating the formation of urine.

In addition to the aforementioned Flavonoids, we also find important compounds such as tannins, essential oils, salicylate glycosides, flavonoids, vitamin C, betulin, betuloretic acid and Caffeic Acid.

Birch Mother Tincture:

The Mother Tincture (TM) is a liquid preparation obtained by extracting the fresh herbal drug through percolation o maceration with a suitable solvent.

The solvent most commonly used in Mother Tinctures is a hydroalcoholic solution (water + alcohol) with a variable strength (most often between 60° and 80°), depending on the solubility of the active compounds to be extracted.

Birch Mother Tincture is an herbal preparation extracted from leaves from the White Birch plant (Betula Pendula Roth), which are macerated in the ratio 1:10 in a solution of water and alcohol.

This is an herbal remedy considered useful for draining and detoxifying the body.

Birch Glyceric Macerate: what is it?

In recent years, Mother Tinctures extracted with Vegetable Glycerin instead of Alcohol, which makes them better from several points of view.

Furthermore, since Glycerin is a less powerful and therefore less extractive type of solvent than Alcohol, innovative extraction techniques are used, such asUltrasonic Extraction.

Ultrasonic Extraction is an innovative, clean, easy and quick extraction technique that allows the active ingredients to be extracted from plants, particularly medicinal plants, and enables the production of high-quality phytoextracts, using the exclusively mechanical action exerted by the cavitation effect produced by sound waves.

The Alcohol-Free Mother Tincture of Birch is obtained by the hydroglyceric maceration of White Birch leaves, always with a 1:10 ratio, and is an innovative type of Mother Tinctures, which, having been obtained through the ultrasonic process, makes it better from several points of view.

At Vonderweid, thanks to our twenty years of experience in the field of Food Supplements and after a long research and development process in our laboratories for the production of Alcohol-Free Mother Tinctures, we managed to obtain a product with the desired characteristics.

Our alcohol-free mother tinctures are classified as Food Supplements and are regularly notified to the Ministry of Health.
