Aloe gel: discover what it is used for and how to use it
Let’s discover together how to use the Aloe gel, and what its properties and benefits are.
Did you know that you can extract it directly at home from your little plant? Follow our easy instructions!
Why do we choose to use both Aloe Arborescens and Aloe Vera?
In Gel VonDerWeid, we often use both Aloe varieties: Vera and Arborescens, because although they are similar, they nevertheless have different principles.
Aloe Arborescens, for example, has a woody stem and less water in its leaves. This makes it a plant with more active ingredients and considerably more potent.
On the other hand, because it is stronger, it may cause skin irritation in very sensitive people and/or on delicate areas.
For this reason, we chose to combine Aloe Arborescens with Aloe Vera, a much more famous relative.
Their synergy gives the products great naturalness and quality.
Where is Aloe gel extracted from?
It is important to be careful when extracting the gel: its production actually begins only when the plant has reached the minimum age of 2 years. Only then can it be considered productive.
Aloe gel is extracted directly from the leaves. Here are some brief and easy instructions:
- Once the plant has reached maturity, choose a large leaf at the base and cut it with a knife.
- Take a food container and tilt the leaf over it to let all the gel inside the leaf drip out for a few minutes.
- At this point, place it on a cutting board and cut off the spiny edges, including the tip and the base.
Cut into it lengthwise, opening it in two (as if cleaning a fish)
- Using a spoon or a butter knife, proceed to scoop out the thicker gel.
